On my Nightstand

People seem a little curious about what I read, so I'll post it here when I get a chance.

Haven't you always wanted to read a rapid diffusion study on hybrid seed corn? Of course you have! Ryan and Gross' "The Diffusion of Hybrid Seed Corn in Two Iowa Communities" from Rural Sociology was a happy tangent that was born of Diffusion of Innovations.

On the chopping block is still Diffusion of Innovations by Rogers and Rogers. It is ever so important to the theoretical junk I look at.

I finished off Middlesex by Eugenides which was astounding on many different levels. It's worth it for the imagery alone.

I persist in procrastinating on Connelly's Void Moon in a lame attempt to widen my reading.

I'm still at the tail end of Crossing the Chasm by Moore, thanks to its repetitious nature. This is also an important, though somewhat dated, book on marketing for technology.

Gareth Morgan's Images of Organisation has booted Diffusion from the top slot on my reading list. It's actually worthwhile! I can't stand the pedantic parables like "Who Moved My Cheese" and for years I've been griping about the lack of a book like this one. Statistics dorks will love the charts.

Thanks to politics, I found myself buried in Dall Forsythe's Memos to the Governor. It's blessedly short, but intense. I found myself taking frequent breaks to digest the meaty concise advice.
